Prof. Faraguna Among the Speakers at the Festival on Mental and Physical Well-being

From May 19 to 25, the city of Lucca will host the fifth edition of Lucca in Mente, the festival organized by the BRF Onlus Foundation and dedicated to mental health and overall well-being. This year, special attention will be given to sleep, an essential yet often overlooked element of our mental and physical health.

A highlight of the festival will be Tuesday, May 20, a day entirely focused on neuroscience and psychology, with a deep dive into the topic of sleep. Professor Ugo Faraguna, physiologist at the University of Pisa and president of Sleepacta, will be among the key speakers with a talk titled The Physiology of Sleep: Why Do We Sleep? His presentation aims to shed light on the fundamental mechanisms of sleep, a crucial aspect of our health and well-being.

The afternoon dedicated to sleep studies will also feature Prof. Gemignani, psychiatrist, who will discuss “Sleep and Consciousness,” and neuroscientist Dr. Bernardi, who will delve into the world of dreams with his talk “Why Do We Dream?” These combined contributions will offer a comprehensive overview of the many facets of sleep, from its biological basis to its deeper implications for the mind.

Professor Faraguna’s session is part of a broader program that includes neuroscientists, writers, artists, and public figures such as Gabriele Salvatores, Giancarlo De Cataldo, Massimiliano Ossini, and Oscar Farinetti.

All festival events are free of charge, with reservations recommended at www.luccainmente.it.
